Bernie Madoff’s Exciting, New Opportunities!
In the next few years, Bernie will be enjoying a simpler life. Exercise. Reading. Watching occasional television. He will probably even make a few friends. He will give up the massive weight of the past transgressions he has been shouldering for years. I imagine that he hasn’t felt this free in a long time.
Think of the opportunities that he has now. Instead of doing something only for himself, perhaps he can use his intellect for good to change the face of whatever prison community he is forced to join. Maybe he could even write a book about his wrongs to help repay his victims and their families. Perhaps he could become a financial counselor to those who are close to rejoining mainstream society. What if he decided to inspire other prisoners through taking responsibility for his actions? What if he sparked a new era of responsibility and accountability in his prison that drastically improved the rehabilitation rate of those who are released?

An opportunity is only a problem without its costume.
