You’re not Superman, period.

Humble yourself. Ask for help.

I was meeting with a group of leaders who are stepping their churches up to the next level. One of the struggles of leadership is learning to give up what you don’t need to do. Other people have a NEED to be involved by helping us and our causes. We are robbing their involvement from them every time we try to do everything.

Ask for help. No one can do it for you. Other people won’t beg to help you. “Oh, please. Will you please let me help you?” Not going to happen. We must lower our pride to a level that is well below manageable and ask someone else to partner with us. We cannot do everything.

Why is this tough?
It means admitting you’re not Superman or at least that you have a weakness of kryptonite.
It means being open to people talking about your weakness.
It means people possibly holding your weakness over your head.
It means being open to having your weakness mentioned on the nightly news. (Just kidding. Well, I suppose it’s possible.)

Anyway.

Humility breeds trust. Humility asks for help.
